This kokedama was made with Brachythecium rutabulum, a moss that prefers similar moisture and shade conditions, and contains a maidenhair fern (Adiantum).
The maidenhair fern grows through creeping rhizomes, and its spore capsules, which form on the underside of the leaf margins, are particularly fascinating.
