The Cercestis mirabilis is an exceptionally beautiful, rare aroid species from the tropical rainforests of West Africa. Its name "mirabilis" (Latin for wonderful, astonishing) describes it perfectly: The leaves of this plant are deep green with a breathtaking silvery-metallic pattern that shimmers in the light and is reminiscent of brushed metal.

The leaf shape is arrow-shaped to elongated, elegantly veined and develops a fascinating texture with age. With its climbing growth, it is ideal for moss poles, climbing aids or as an eye-catching foliage plant in glass display cases – a real statement for any tropical plant collection.

Care instructions:

Light: Bright to semi-shady location, indirect light preferred.

Temperature: 20–28 °C, not below 18 °C.

Humidity: High (60–80%), particularly good in display cases or grow tents.

Substrate: Airy and well-draining – an aroid mix of bark, perlite, coconut fiber and moss is ideal.

Watering: Keep evenly moist, no waterlogging. Water with low-calcium water.

Fertilizing: During the growing season, every 3–4 weeks with a mild green plant fertilizer.

Origin:
Native to the tropical rainforests of West Africa (e.g. Cameroon, Gabon, Congo). In nature, Cercestis mirabilis grows as an epiphytic or semi-climbing plant on tree trunks in shady, humid habitats.

Size:
Depending on location and care, leaf size 20–40 cm; climbing growth up to over 1 m possible.

Delivered in a 10 cm pot.
